Overview

The Cotehele Recycled Polyester Scarf is a heritage-inspired accessory designed exclusively for the National Trust. Its pattern is inspired by the 18th-century "Queen Anne's Tatting" found on a set of mahogany chairs and two pole screens in the Punch Room at Cotehele, Cornwall.

Tatting was a popular pastime in the early 18th century and is a technique of knotted woolwork. The process of tatting produces a particularly stable lace from knots and loops, and because of its delicate look it has been and is used for decorative purposes on clothing and fabrics as well as a jewellery making technique.

Made from 100% recycled polyester derived from waste fibres from the garment manufacturing process, the scarf combines historic inspiration with contemporary materials. Suitable for everyday wear or gifting, it offers a wearable connection to one of the National Trust's most remarkable historic houses and its rich collection of textiles and furnishings.
