About the artist 

Annie Soudain studied art in Canterbury and Brighton before dedicating her career to teaching and creating art. Now retired and based in Hastings, she focuses on her own work, using a variety of media but specialising in linocut printing. Annie employs the reduction method, a meticulous process of cutting, inking, and printing from the same block to create layers of colour and depth. Her inspiration comes from the surrounding countryside, coastal landscapes, and everyday scenes, resulting in compositions that are both bold and expressive.
