Overview

‘I lived in the suburbs in a nice semi-detached place with a small garden and doctors and lawyers and that ilk living around ... I was a nice clean-cut suburban boy.’ John Lennon

Mendips, 251 Menlove Avenue, was the home of John Lennon from 1945 until 1963. Here he was brought up by his beloved Aunt Mimi, and here he started writing songs that changed the lives of millions.

This guidebook explores John Lennon’s childhood and formative years, the majority of which he spent at Mendips. From his love of reading adventure stories and dreaming in his bedroom, to his rebellious school years and pursuing a passion for art and music. It was also during this time that John met local boy Paul McCartney at a church fete, and together they formed the Beatles.

Also included is a tour of the house, complete with new photography and a special foreword by Yoko Ono Lennon.
