Beetroot ‘Cheltenham Green Top’ is a heavy cropping tap-rooted old variety that has been around since before the 1880s.

With a well deserved reputation for outstanding flavour & texture, the beetroot can also be enjoyed steamed like spinach or used raw in mixed salads.

Presented in a traditional brown envelope, these seeds are prepared by one of Britain's most reputable suppliers, Thomas Etty, a heritage seedsman based in Somerset.

Full growing instructions are included on the packet.

Pick up a packet and pair it with one of our garden pots to make a thoughtful gift for an avid gardener.

Thomas Etty Esq offer 450 heritage seed varieties ranging from 1633 to the end of WW2, which are hand packed in Somerset. National Trust has carefully selected 16 of the most popular varieties for you to choose from.

Annual

Long tapering purple roots that can grow up to 20cm.

Long-rooted beet require longer growing time so make the last sowing in July.

Cultivation: Sow seeds thinly, 2.5cm (1in) deep, in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Once seedlings have appeared, thin out to 10cm (4in) apart. For a regular supply, sow every few weeks from mid-April to July. The later sowings can be stored for winter use.
