Spring 2021 edition highlights
The spring issue of National Trust Magazine lands just as nature starts to shrug off the winter and the world around us reawakens, so we hope it will inspire you to enjoy all that spring has to offer across the Trust.
We’re looking ahead to blossom season and encouraging everyone to notice the beauty of blossom this spring. We’re also sharing details about a new project to plant circles of blossoming trees on Trust land and in urban communities across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Elsewhere, you can read reflections from Director-General Hilary McGrady and find out what has been going on behind the scenes at the Trust over the last few months.
We also share the stories behind five special objects which feature in a new book exploring some of the finest items in the Trust’s collections. You can discover how 20th-century Castle Drogo in Devon has finally been made watertight for the first time, and find out how your handbook has adapted over time and why it’s changed again this year.
Finally, many of us have enjoyed the homely pastimes of cooking and gardening over the past year and the fragrant world of herbs bring both of these pleasures together. We explore which herbs Trust chefs love to use, suggest tasty recipes for you to try and share tips on planting your own herb patch this spring.
