National Trust Cookbook
The National Trust has nearly 300 cafes, and in 2014 they served 3.2 million cups of tea, 2.68 million home-made cakes and more than 600,000 soups.
In this cookbook, the National Trust share their hugely popular, tried-and-tested dishes so you can cook your favourites at home.
There are over 100 recipes for British seasonal dishes, ranging from classics like Steak and Ale Pie to to newer favourites like Pumpkin Pearl Barley Risotto and Vegetable Tagine.
Desserts range from scones (of which the NT sell millions and particularly pride themselves) to Ginger and Satsuma cake and Orange and Poppyseed cake.
Many of the recipes use ingredients sourced from the NT's kitchen gardens and farms – and so make the most of the fresh summer peas or autumnal squashes.
The book also features recipes that are linked to NT places, such as the hearty beef stew enjoyed by Churchill at Chartwell, Agatha Christie's favourite Lobster Bisque which she ate at Greenway, or the Plum Cake recipe handed down to Beatrix Potter from her mother.
Features:
- Delicious recipes sourced from the 300 National Trust cafés, where the meals and cakes are hugely popular.
- Hearty British dishes that make the most of seasonal produce.
- Recipes with fascinating historical stories, such as Churchill's favourite beef stew.

National Trust Cookbook
5 stars High quality Written by Eleanor
I ordered this online as a Christmas present for someone and the order arrived today. I've had a leaf through and am hugely impressed with this book. I'm not a great cook myself but these recipes look fairly simple and easy to follow and would inspire even me to have a go! They are beautifully laid out on the pages, and most have high quality photos of the finished product to go with them. There are also lovely photos of NT places throughout. Being vegetarian, I was so pleased to see a very large number of vegetarian recipes, and no doubt some of the meat ones could be easily adapted too. The book is organised in 'seasons' which is good, so each season has savoury dishes and puddings and cakes too. If nobody gets this for me for Christmas I think I'm going to buy it myself with any Christmas money I receive!

5 stars Excellent! Written by Zoe
Received a copy for Christmas and have been busy cooking ever since! Love the seasonal chapters and easy to follow recipes. Husband is a meat eater and I am vegetarian and have found recipes can be adapted to suit both tastes if needed. Would very much recommend!

I am very pleased with this book. I tried the scone recipe when it was published in the magazine and it is the only recipe where my scones have not turned into rocks! All the recipes seem to be very simple and homely. One of the best cook books I have bought.

4 stars Excellent cookery book but can only give it four stars Written by Jill White
Love the book but why are there no fan oven temperatures given in the recipes? The recipes are so inviting and easy to follow. I can't wait to start cooking. I shall use some of these for the gardening club produce show to feed the judges!
