In the 1800s a gooseberry craze kicked off, with over 170 gooseberry clubs active in England at its height. People competed to grow the biggest, heaviest gooseberries, with the winning fruits often being the size of a large plum. The hidden gooseberry illustration was found at Anglesey Abbey, Cambridgeshire. Buying this jam helps us uncover that past for the future.
