Barrington Pottery Mini Jug, Sage
Exclusive to the National Trust, this rustic small jug was lovingly hand thrown by Paul Jessop & Marion Lewis on our Barrington Court estate.
This neutral sage green variety was created especially for us to sit with our special in house designed collections.
A jug for all seasons which is as much a vase for a small posy as it is a storage vessel; each one is hand thrown on the potters wheel and has its own unique character.
Simple honest pottery at its best.
Complete the set with our mug, Devon jug pie dish and egg cup.
This artisan pottery range is made for us on our Barrington Court estate, Somerset by Paul Jessop and Marion Lewis.
Their version of this design classic keeps alive all of the traditional skills associated with British Slipware Country Pottery.
The materials they use are few and all locally sourced: a local Devon red clay for the main pots and a ball clay from Cornwall for the decoration or slip.
Each jug is hand thrown on the potters wheel, trimmed and slipped when leather hard and stamped with their Barrington Pottery mark.
They are then left to dry for at least a week before the first firing in the kiln.
The first firing known as "biscuit firing” takes over thirty-six hours, once biscuit fired the pie dishes are then hand glazed before being fired again this time to a higher temperature. This also takes a further thirty-six hours.
These are special products with provenance.
