Not being from Britain this gave me a lot to look forward to while planning our visit to England. Lovely photos and a lot of information - the map could have been of a better qualitiy, but that was a minor problem.

4 stars Nice book to dip into.. Written by

Britain's tree story is a series of portraits of historical tress. Some still standing, some now lost. There are photographs and illustrations and a history. Each tree is afforded its own 'chapter'. The new photography is well shot and is supported by old photographs, illustrations and related images. A nice book.

5 stars Every Page a Delight Written by

This lovely book contains so much more than I expected for the modest price. So interesting . not only for the excellent illustrations of the individual trees, both past and present, but also for the altering background situations as the years - indeed centuries - have passed. The accompanying facts and legends kept me enthralled for hours.Bought as a gift for my tree surgeon son, I have now ordered another for myself.

Great price and fascinating read. Originally bought as a gift for my 22 year old daughter who will have to wait until I order the second copy.

5 stars Informative book about the heritage of Trees in Britain Written by

This book covered both Native trees and those introduced by invaders and travellers. It is full of facts and folklore surrounding them. The only drawback I could find is that there was insufficient info on bark and leaves to assist easy identification. This is an interesting and informative read.

Very, very good, I was my authority's lead tree surgeon for many years (20) therefore I can appreciate this book probably better than most. There are parts which bring back memories, such as the Elm disease and the great winds of '87, these, unfortunately was our busiest times.
